October 2011 -Training Turns out Tremendously at Transnet


In his visit to the Eastern Cape last week, President Jacob Gedleyihlekisa Zuma, called on industry to play its part by increasing their contributions to skills development and training, in partnership with local academic and training institutions. Training Providers such as Triple E Training, are of course thrilled at The President’s recognition that training does make the difference! Transnet Port Terminals in Port Elizabeth is one of the organisations that has made a massive contribution to skills development, with interventions such as their ABET Programme.

Transnet Port Terminal’s programme started two years ago and the ABET learners have progressed 4 times since April 2009. In a surprise visit to the class this week, the Triple E Team was ecstatic to find a self-assured, participative group who are upbeat about their successes and future training plans. They thanked Transnet and Triple E Training - verbally and in writing - for the educational opportunities.


Transnet Port Terminals has a successful programme because they support all Training 100%. This sounds obvious, but not all organisations are passionate about developing their employees. Their support encourages the learners and provides a smoother ride to achieving success. It paves the way for genuine career-pathing for their employees. When a learner misses a class it’s followed up meticulously for example, and learners are given immense recognition for their diligence. Our president would be proud to see this class!

The learners sang Happy 20th birthday to Triple E Training, and wished them another 100 years in business! They reiterated how the classes have given them direction and opened their minds. They requested a meeting with the developers of the learning guides! They expressed sincere gratitude to their employer. Triple E has survived the wheels of change in this field and are really passionate about skills development, so Transnet Port Terminals, here we all go…………
