TEACHING BASIC ENGLISH
the road to true freedom
South Africa is faced with extremely high illiteracy amongst its inhabitants; illiteracy being one of the biggest remaining obstacles to true freedom in this country. Millions have never had any education, which strips people's dignity from them, leaving them vulnerable to abuse and unable to participate fully in life, so teaching basic English to them is giving them the tools to help themselves to freedom..
Programs have been developed for South Africans to ensure that adult learners can relate to the learning material, making the learning process more significant and meaningful. Being able to read dates on a calendar, labels on food and clothing and memo's at work as well as writing addresses on envelopes, writing a CV or just writing a personal note is acquiring basic life skills. More challenging things like personal development and self-actualisation once the hidden potential is discovered, are natural sequels.
Teaching basic English is aimed at helping learners to refine their use of everyday English and to become more proficient in the communication of the work place. It will become even more imperative for people who are moving into a managerial position - who will find themselves having to communicate on a much higher level in English.
An important fact with teaching basic English, is that people have to be able to do the work after they have been trained, which entails the practical application of skills and general problem solving in the place of training.
Literacy is a Constitutional right, not a privilege, and it is therefore the responsibility of those who are literate to assist in the process of teaching basic English and thereby eradicating illiteracy and poverty.. Triple e is one such training company, making an invaluable contribution to South Africans and improving the quality of their lives.
