We take many life skills for granted, but often forget that many communities never had any exposure to life skills training before. One of the adult life skills training programs is that of HIV/AIDS training presented at workplaces around the country. By giving workers the knowledge to help them deal with HIV/AIDS infections, living with it, understanding how it is transmitted or not transmitted and what can be done, will help them to avoid contraction, live with it when already contracted, provide support to colleagues and friends who have contracted HIV/AIDS, and will help to make the workplace safer whilst also more worker friendly. The workers spend most of their days at work where a lot of interaction with other workers takes place and where injuries can be sustained. It is essential that you give them the knowledge required to deal with such situations effectively by enrolling them in adult life skills training programs such as the ones presented by Triple e.

If an employee doesn’t understand why it is needed to take additional classes or why he or she should for instance, take mathematics classes, attend an HIV awareness program, learn an African language or develop English communication skills, the worker will not be positive. This is dangerous because a reluctant learner may not attend classes, work hard to gain skills, or even decided to not attend at all. You as an employer must motivate employees to learn. Give them the reasons why you provide additional training. Show them the direct benefits such as promotion, ability to use the skills gained also outside the workplace and show them how they will benefit in the workplace. Triple e knows how to motivate employees to learn. We structure our courses to be fun, on the level of the employee and to give immediate results.

With the risk of infection always present in the workplace especially at health care centres, it is essential to have an HIV training program in place. The HIV training program should address issues such as the transmission of the disease, preventative measures, how to live with HIV, and how to handle infection. The HIV training should also address myths about infection and help workers as well as their families to cope with infection. Testing for the disease should be done on a voluntary basis and there should also be a counselling program in place. It is a fact of modern life and something that cannot be ignored. Provide the life orientation skills your workers deserve through an effective HIV training program. Contact us today to help set-up an HIV training program at your workplace.

Research with rising users of English proves what common sense always suggested – When students learn English “in a meaningful context,” they learn more quickly and they retain what they learn. English adult classes, which develop students reading and writing skills in the context of their everyday work, show far greater growth and retention than English adult classes taught “in isolation.” The difference lies in motivation and reward. Although a compilation of literature introduces students to masterpieces, they cannot use literary language at work. However, speech, conversation, and texts derived from the workplace have immediate reward—learn it tonight and use it tomorrow. Moving ahead through a series of English adult classes, students work with increasingly complex, sophisticated texts taken from common workplace situations.

Speakers of the ten official South African languages other than English compete at a disadvantage in the workplace because English remains South Africa’s language of power. Learning business English levels the playing field for South African workers who want to advance up the corporate ladder to supervisor and management positions. Neither as complicated nor as simple as old-fashioned British schoolboy English, business English emphasizes simple, direct communication. Business English stresses getting directly to the point and making the point forcefully. It is the language of training manuals, instructions, work lists, and messages; not the language of contracts and legal documents. Business English focuses on clear communication of who does what, how and why. Moreover, developing their command of business English, determined South Africans can rise above their histories of disadvantage to important and powerful positions in their companies.

Managers and supervisors quickly learn the difference between a boss and a leader. A boss demands submission to the authority in his title and he issues compliance with his instructions. Employees working for a boss live in almost constant fear of punishment or termination. Leaders, however, inspire employees’ respect, loyalty, and devotion because they help workers feel pride and ownership in their work. The best leaders understand exactly how they serve their followers.
Some of South Africa’s most effective corporate and professional leaders speak Tswana in the workplace because common language promotes a sense of common cause. When leaders take initiative to learn and speak Tswana in the workplace, they prove their respect for and understanding with their employees. In addition, effective leaders very quickly discover that, when they speak Tswana in the workplace, efficiency and productivity increase while accidents and non-attendance decrease.
