Numerical literacy training to improve the workforce

Friday, June 12th, 2009

With more than 1.5 million adult learners enrolled in some kind of adult learning classes between 1999 and 2003, South Africa has already seen a fast improvement in the literacy levels of the SA workforce. Building upon that through numerical literacy training as well as English literacy skills, essential life orientation and communication skills is extremely important to build a strong literate workforce in the country. Notably more than 20% of adult learners have no prior exposure to education and as such the numerical literacy training must be presented at the appropriate levels to prevent frustration from setting in. Triple e succeeds in this by providing training according to skills levels made possible through pre-assessments of adult learner skills.

English Literacy Drives Growth

Thursday, March 26th, 2009

Especially in a depressed world economy, increasing South African workers’ productivity becomes more urgent. In general, increases in productivity depend upon advances in workers’ English literacy. Sophisticated job training, the key to increased productivity and profit, certainly depends upon sophisticated English literacy. As more large multi-national corporations train their workers with online curricula, South African workers must have sufficient English literacy to learn and apply skills, techniques, and values delivered via the internet. The nation’s sustained economic development depends on its promotion of English literacy.

Similarly, in order to properly distribute the benefits of sustained economic growth, South Africa must continue developing its value for ethnic and cultural diversity. The nation must find courage to promote the literature of the ethnic experience in South Africa, making powerful writing style more accessible to wider audiences. We cannot strengthen this country without advances in English literacy.

English literacy levels in South Africa

Wednesday, February 25th, 2009

The latest reports indicate that the English literacy levels in South Africa are still not up to par. This does not just hold true for adults, but also for schools. The problem is that more adult basic education programs may be needed in future as employers are concerned about the entrants into the job market who have completed their Grade 12’s without being able to properly understand, communicate, read, and write in English. This is problematic since it means that new entrants into the job market are still unskilled in English as language. We need to improve the English literacy levels in South Africa if we want to improve service delivery and be able to compete in the international arena. As such we recommend assessments of the employees to test their skills of the English language and where required then to enroll them in English literacy courses as presented by Triple-e.

Adult English Classes

Wednesday, January 21st, 2009

We offer various adult English classes for people who need to improve their conversational skills, written communication and day to day business or industry related English skills. The adult English classes have been designed to address the learning needs of employees who have to communicate with clients and colleagues on a daily basis, but don’t yet have the required skills in the language to do so with confidence. As communication forms an integral part of our daily lives, adult English classes have become all the more important to ensure that employees can communicate effectively. The adult English classes are presented at various levels and a pre-assessment will be done to ensure that the learner starts at the correct level according his or her comprehension of the language.
