Time spent on ABET well worth it

Friday, December 4th, 2009

As Adult basic Education programs become more popular more and more employers are offering their employees the opportunity to take part in the programs. However even with the best will in the world employers must take into account the imperatives facing their business. They have to ensure that targets are met and that the business remains viable. Goodwill alone will not keep the business afloat. For this reason most providers of ABET services will hold classes on site to minimise the disruption to everyday activities. Workers can then attend classes totaling between four to six hours a week which will allow them to complete an ABET level in between four to eight months.

Adult teaching through ABET courses

Sunday, May 31st, 2009

Adult teaching differs from teaching children or even full time students. There is less time and the learners want to see results quickly. It is however, also important to note that once a person enrols out of free will, the learner is generally more positive and eager to learn. As such we encourage employers to explain adult teaching methods with their employees to ensure a positive attitude right from the start. We follow adult teaching methods that inspire, uplift, motivate, and encourage. Our aim is never to break down, but to build on existing skills. As such the attendees enjoy our classes and prefer our way of adult teaching because they can see immediate results. This also benefits the employer that receives the advantages of an education workforce almost immediately.

Worker Education Classes Emphasize Outcomes

Thursday, April 2nd, 2009

Traditional educators always understood the notion of learning for its own sake as one of their vocation’s guiding principles. One learns a language or logical system because it stimulates the mind, they thought. Measurements of intellectual development prevailed. However, from the beginning, architects of South Africa’s sophisticated worker education classes program insisted growth rates and numerical indices of students’ achievement never would document the effectiveness of or prove the value of their instruction and activities. Workers and their employers had to see meaningful results. If a skill did not contribute to work, or if an alumnus of worker education could not apply a skill at work, the whole enterprise was worthless. Workers and managers demanded performance prove instruction’s effectiveness. All the collaborators in the nation’s system of worker education classesagreed, “The immediate value of the training program must be observable.” A principle so patently clear to businessmen revolutionized worker education classes.

Master Everyday English in Basic English Adult Classes

Wednesday, April 1st, 2009

Because students readily learn to read and write when they have opportunities to use their new language skills in their work, basic adult English classes focus first on conversational workplace conversations. Working with corporate associates, professional educators and trainers who specialize in Basic English adult classes, develop curriculum according to everyday situations in the job site. Conversations develop interactions between supervisors and employees, or they build from common social situations, and vocabulary emphasizes professional jargon and common expressions used at the jobsite.

Basic English adult classes, although they focus on spoken language, nevertheless build simple command of phonics and they develop word recognition, the fundamentals of reading. Because rising English users are familiar with approximately ten times more spoken words than they can read, basic English adult classes capitalize on that familiarity to boost students’ vocabularies and lay the foundation for reading.
