We take many life skills for granted, but often forget that many communities never had any exposure to life skills training before. One of the adult life skills training programs is that of HIV/AIDS training presented at workplaces around the country. By giving workers the knowledge to help them deal with HIV/AIDS infections, living with it, understanding how it is transmitted or not transmitted and what can be done, will help them to avoid contraction, live with it when already contracted, provide support to colleagues and friends who have contracted HIV/AIDS, and will help to make the workplace safer whilst also more worker friendly. The workers spend most of their days at work where a lot of interaction with other workers takes place and where injuries can be sustained. It is essential that you give them the knowledge required to deal with such situations effectively by enrolling them in adult life skills training programs such as the ones presented by Triple e.

Triple e has tremendous success with Aids training to effectively help workers understand how the disease is transmitted, how to prevent transmission, what to do in case of transmission etc. We start the Aids training at the level of knowledge that the workers have about the subject at hand. We also take their economical background as well as level of education, and their cultural roots into consideration. Our aids training is accurate and provides all the information required. It addresses the fears and attitudes toward AIDS as well as any false perceptions. It helps the employees to express their concerns and helps them to come to grips with certain aspects of the disease. Contact us for more information on the Aids training at your workplace.

Public health officials estimate one in four adult South Africans realistically can claim “comprehensive HIV awareness.” Only a quarter of South Africans have working knowledge of how the disease affects the body, how it spreads, how to recognize its symptoms, and what to do in case of exposure. Comprehensive HIV awareness includes the ability to separate fact from myth and panic from prevention. Officials fear the rate of comprehensive HIV awareness among disadvantaged South African adults falls below 10%. Less than 10% of all South African young adults between 18 and 25 regularly practice safe sex; even fewer ask new sex partners about their health status.

HIV/AIDS has ravaged all of Africa and initiatives to promote HIV awareness among the groups most at risk still fall short of their goals. Because they command young people’s trust and respect, educators especially must grow new initiatives to develop their students’ HIV awareness.

Among South African adults, the rate of HIV cases advancing to AIDS has stabilized since 2005; among young adults, the rate actually has declined as AIDS clinics dramatically have increased access to effective treatments. Although public health officials recognize a few encouraging signs; nonetheless, the HIV/AIDS epidemic continues to ravage South Africa and all of Africa.

The World Health Organization only recently began studying the number of adults who claim “comprehensive AIDS awareness,” so experts lack sufficient data to draw a conclusion about South African AIDS awareness. But if safe sex practices indicate young adults’ AIDS awareness, South African public health officials have cause for alarm. Among young men aged 18 to 24, only a small portion regularly practice safe sex and only 16% of young women in that age group take precautions against HIV/AIDS. Educators and public health officials must increase their efforts to promote AIDS awareness among South Africans.

Health care workers are most at risk of contracting HIV/AIDS. As such any company whether it is a private clinic, hospital, practice or industry related company needs to inform workers through AIDS awareness programs. Not only topics such as how the virus is contracted or how to prevent contraction should be dealt with, but also how to live with HIV/AIDS and how to deal with family, friends or colleagues who have contracted the virus. It is a fact of modern day society and by ignoring the problem, it will get worse. AIDS awareness programs especially for any worker that takes care of the health of others, should be in place. The problem is that most companies don’t know where to start or how to approach the topic. Triple –e is the ideal company to help you implement AIDS awareness programs in your company. Greater understanding of the problem and fears are addressed in addition to providing important information on how to live and work productively if a person has HIV/AIDS.

AIDS is not a social problem detached from the work environment. People spend the largest part of their day at work. It is also the place where most interaction with people, other than their close friends and family circle takes place. As such AIDS education programs at work are extremely important for the following reasons:

•	It facilitates fair management of workers living with AIDS.
•	Preventing the spread of HIV.
•	Demonstrates the company’s commitment to the well-being of its workers.
•	It addresses fears about contraction of the virus.
•	Helps co-workers to deal with an HIV/AIDS colleague in the correct manner.
•	Helps to clear up myths surrounding the issue.
•	Helps an HIV/AIDS positive person to keep self esteem and overcome fears.

People often fear that they will lose their jobs should they be HIV/AIDS positive. When a company thus provides AIDS education programs, it will improve worker motivation and morale because it shows that the company cares. Contact Triple-e for information on the AIDS education programs available.

Once off Aids training programs often fail to address deeper issues. As such it is important to implement ongoing Aids training programs at work, but first start with a full education program. Triple- e can help you with regards to both. The following are issues covered in such education and Aids training programs:

How the disease is transmitted
How STD’s influence HIV
Safe sexual practices
Distribution and information about condoms
Dealing with attitudes, misconceptions etc.
Legal questions
Job security
Rights of women
Living and working with HIV or AIDS

The correct information should be provided in a supportive manner and the Aids training programs at work should be interactive and allow for open discussions whilst keeping in line with sensitivity towards workers who are AIDS or HIV infected or have family members who are sufferers.

ABET has grown from the goals of church groups, communities and schools to develop Adult Basic Education and Training programs to address the illiteracy and lack of essential numeracy as well as life skills which plague the South African economy. Many of the persons needing ABET are older women in rural areas. The women are informed and have skills to share, but their lack of literacy hinders their ability to contribute to society. Through ABET programs, the women can be taught essential skills which they can apply in community projects such as AIDS awareness programs and at charity organizations where they can help to uplift the poor citizens of the country. Companies often look at areas where they can contribute regarding social responsibility. By enrolling employees and helping to facilitate ABET programs also at rural areas, companies will be give an enormous gift back to society and their workforce. Contact us to enroll or sponsor enrollment of people in one of our ABET programs.

There are various types of life skills training courses. One of the essential life skills training courses entail AIDS awareness. This includes background on how AIDS is transmitted, what steps to take to prevent transmission, how to handle infection, and where to get help. AIDS is not a problem that can be ignored and with so many people already infected, employers must take steps to empower employees with knowledge through life skills training programs. Steps such as hygiene, diet, lifestyle choices and more are also addressed. Rather than having an unproductive workforce and high costs because employees are infected and don’t know how to live with it, make a positive contribution towards fighting the effects of AIDS through life skills training programs for your employees.
