ABET Literacy Training for Adults

Friday, August 7th, 2009

The aim of literacy training for adults is to teach them how to read, write, understand and most importantly communicate in a language that they are either not familiar with or just haven’t had the opportunity to properly study at one or other stage in their lives. The purpose is to obtain all these skills in a shorter period that you would have had to endure at school, and this is all very possible with our 4 level ABET literacy training course.
Communication is one of the most important social factors in the world, too many misunderstandings with historical and disastrous consequences have occurred merely because of a lack of communication or some misinterpretation.
Literacy training is crucial for any adult who lack these basic skills, so to find out more about our ABET level and how you and therefore your company can benefit from it, contact us now.

Literacy training basics

Wednesday, January 21st, 2009

The literacy training basics entail aspects such as effective communication, writing, reading, and applying the skills obtained through literacy training in the workplace. A staggering number of people in South Africa cannot read or write at all. This places them at a severe disadvantage. Through short but effective literacy training courses, we empower people to become skilled in specific languages not only to speak or understand the languages, but also to be able to read and write in the specific languages. Various literacy training levels exist and the learner can either write an exam at the end of a level or hand in a POE to show his or her competency in every aspect of the literacy training course.

What is adult literacy training and how does it differ from that offered to school children?

Wednesday, January 21st, 2009

Adult literacy training entails Level 1 to 4 of the ABET program which has aim to provide adult learners the skills they require to read, write, understand, and communicate effectively in a particular language. The main difference between adult literacy training and school literacy training lies in the way that the classes are presented. Since adults want outcomes that can be applied almost immediately the courses are more compact and thus shorter in duration. The adult literacy training has as aim to provide adults immediate and tangible evidence of the benefits of having the knowledge gained through adult literacy training. Skills that can be applied in everyday life as well as the workplace are taught.
