What sets our adult learning programs apart from the rest?

Friday, June 12th, 2009

Our adult learning programs are a notch above the rest because we tackle obstacles to adult learning head on. We for instance, schedule the adult learning programs at the workplace, making it possible for the workers to attend without having to take additional transport to get to the place of learning. We also schedule the adult learning programs around the shifts of the workers to minimize the effect on productivity whilst also taking their need to be with their families into consideration. The goals are connected to what the attendees learn. Applicable knowledge is provided that ensures that workers can see the benefit of the adult learning programs immediately. Learners progress at their own level and thus don’t compete against others

Motivation and Determination Inspire Adult Learning

Thursday, March 26th, 2009

Children attend school because they must. Adults return to school because they choose to learn and grow. The difference between force and choice makes a critical difference in students’ motivation and success. Knowing education will contribute to their advancement at work and in the community, adult students dedicate full attention and strict self-discipline to their studies. Naturally, determination influences adult learning because adults continue at difficult tasks and master complicated skills in spite of frustration. Adult learning advances as students understand many paths lead to the same intellectual destinations.

Adults learning also benefit from their advanced “meta-cognitive” capacities: Standing apart from and reflecting on their own problem solving processes, adults become self-conscious about how and why they think and learn. By approaching their intellectual strengths and weaknesses, adults take command of their studies and their adult learning takes them well beyond barriers and limits they once imagined.

Learning as an Adult: Students Learn How to Learn

Thursday, March 26th, 2009

Adult students quickly learn the “real” value of continuing education. Of course, school provides them with factual knowledge they might not otherwise acquire, but adults tend to forget most of the facts they master in school. The “real” value of education comes from learning how to learn – thus through courses for learning as an adult.

Although most disadvantaged adults dread returning to school, mainly because they fear embarrassment and alienation, they quickly discover learning as an adult differs dramatically from their childhood experience in school. Because adults bring more background knowledge and language skill to their classrooms, learning as an adult is easier than most students expect. Background knowledge eases learning as an adult because adults connect new skills with those they already have. Adults connect their knowledge in ways that children cannot. Adults typically have ten times greater vocabularies than children, which allows them to comprehend and retain new information easier. Learning as an adult through the ABET training programs is fun.

Three levels of adult learning which are essential for today’s work environment

Wednesday, February 25th, 2009

The Triple E adult learning programs are focused on addressing the following levels of adult learning which are essential for functioning in the modern day work environment:

Literacy (reading and writing)
Numeracy (mathematical skills)
Problem solving

The first level of adult learning is focused on conversational skills, the ability to read, understand and apply knowledge obtained from documents in the workplace. The numeracy adult learning programs are focused on developing essential mathematical and calculation skills such as counting, subtracting, multiplication, interpretation of mathematical information, presentation of information in tables, graphs, and forms. Problem solving skills focus on identification of problems and developing the skills required to solve problems effectively. In order to develop an effective workforce all three levels must be addressed. Enroll your employees in a comprehensive and well structured ABET program to develop the above skills through a fun and well structured adult learning program.

Success with adult learning classes

Wednesday, January 21st, 2009

Triple e has tremendous success with adult learning classes and the reason for this is that we address issues that many other programs ignore. We take specific factors into consideration when preparing the adult learning classes. As such our adult learning classes are based on specific principles to promote success:

• Link goals of the learner with what is taught
• Provide applicable knowledge that can be used in day to day living and the workplace
• Give them practical evidence that what they are learning is worth something
• Allow the learners to work at their own pace
• Respect the various ways in which people learn
• Show them how they can solve problems in their workplace with the knowledge gained
• Schedule classes to accommodate the learner’s time, transport needs, and responsibilities
• Provide opportunities to discuss, solve problems, and work out scenarios in class.

What is one of biggest obstacles for adult learners?

Wednesday, January 21st, 2009

Studies have shown that students who out of their own accord enrol in further education or adult basic training are often more motivated than others and know why they are doing the courses. Since they have goals they are more likely to succeed. Fear is seen as one of the biggest obstacles for adult learners. People with no prior learning experience or perhaps a bad experience as child regarding learning will fear the notion of having to step into a classroom. Overcoming the fear is not that easy, but at Triple e we help adult learners to quickly overcome their fear whether it is a fear of failure or humiliation, they soon realize that we meet them at their level. Our fantastic pass rate is enough evidence, but we do more than that. We create an environment where the adult learners are comfortable and ensure that we help them to succeed. Build worker confidence or build your own confidence by attending one of our programs for adult learners.

Basic differences between child and adult learning

Wednesday, January 21st, 2009

There are a few differences between child and adult learning that necessitate the usage of a different approach when teaching adults as opposed to children. Studies have shown that adults often lack self-esteem when it comes to adult learning. People with no prior schooling suffer the most from a lack of self esteem and fear of failure. They have never been admired by peers for their educational accomplishments and the day to day frustration of for instance, not being able to sign on forms or read important notices, build up and eventually lead to feelings of failure. As such adult learning courses must be presented in such a way that learners will build confidence in their abilities and will see almost immediate results. This is what we aim for through our adult learning courses and it is also the reason why we have such a high pass rate.
