Why adult basic training is essential in South Africa

Friday, June 12th, 2009

Considering that we will host the World Cup Soccer 2010, we should be a country that is well advanced also on the educational front. Sadly we are not. We need adult basic training in South Africa to be able to provide better services, ensure hope for the future, and to uplift poorer communities. Equally sad many of the workers at companies and at homes have no education whatsoever and lack even the most basic skills of reading, writing, and counting. By keeping adults from gaining the essential skills we limit the growth potential of this country. Enrol your workers in adult basic training courses that will give them the skills to function in modern day society, help others, and contribute to your company’s goals. Triple e provides a wide range of ABET accredited adult basic training courses throughout South Africa and at the employer’s premises.

Basic differences between child and adult learning

Wednesday, January 21st, 2009

There are a few differences between child and adult learning that necessitate the usage of a different approach when teaching adults as opposed to children. Studies have shown that adults often lack self-esteem when it comes to adult learning. People with no prior schooling suffer the most from a lack of self esteem and fear of failure. They have never been admired by peers for their educational accomplishments and the day to day frustration of for instance, not being able to sign on forms or read important notices, build up and eventually lead to feelings of failure. As such adult learning courses must be presented in such a way that learners will build confidence in their abilities and will see almost immediate results. This is what we aim for through our adult learning courses and it is also the reason why we have such a high pass rate.

Factors affecting Adult basic training and education

Wednesday, January 21st, 2009

Numerous factors affect adult basic training and education. One of the most prevalent factors is that of the knowledge already gained earlier in life. The more knowledge an adult has about a specific subject even through informal learning earlier in life the faster the learning as adult. As such it is essential to pre-assess the level of knowledge before commencing with an adult basic training program. This is why we screen each of the attendees and assess their present level of skills in for instance, English communication before we commence with the course. This helps us to meet the learner at his or her level and ensure that the learner doesn’t get frustrated by the course content and pace.

Adult training in South Africa – a must

Wednesday, January 21st, 2009

Competency levels in many of the local government structures and various public institutions are too low according to the latest reports on the competency levels of workers in South Africa. It is shocking and it costs the country in productivity, image, and income. Retrenchment is not an option as the employment figure is already far too high. The solution is to make use of adult training facilities in South Africa as offered by Triple-e and other ABET accredited providers to enhance the skills of your employees. Rather than pointing fingers every institution also public institutions should take responsibility for the skills and competency levels of their employees by enrolling them in relevant adult training courses ranging from language and literacy, to mathematics, economy, project management, and industry specific courses.

Adult Basic Training

Friday, December 5th, 2008

Although many South Africans have succeeded to function in society without the basic literacy skills, they could have had better jobs or opportunities if they had the education to support their applications. Adult basic training is focused on giving illiterate South Africans the basic skills they require to communicate effectively, do math calculations, understand the importance of personal hygiene, handle business tasks and can perform duties assigned to them in a specific industry because they have acquired the skills to do so. With more than 13 million South Africans still lacking an education equivalent to Grade 9, adult basic training has become a priority to ensure a better economic future for society and the individual workers.
