Always make sure of ABET accreditation

Monday, February 1st, 2010

In order to ensure that the service provider that has been selected to provide educational services to an organisation is in fact able to provide these services in accordance with the government approved guidelines for further education. Without the sign of approval from the relevant authorities any ABET accreditation will not be valid and any achievement gained by the employee will not entitle them to progress to the next level of ABET accreditation. It is thus extremely important that the organisation’s Human Resources department asks to review the service providers documentation to ensure that it is accredited to provide the educational courses required.

ABET and the bottom line

Wednesday, December 9th, 2009

Business should ensure that ABET service providers have the correct accreditation in order to make sure that employees are receiving the proper instruction to enable them to progress through the levels of the Adult Basic education and Training program successfully. Should the ABET service provider not be accredited with the correct governmental structure then all qualifications received by the learner will be rendered null and void. This will not only affect staff morale but will be extremely costly, both in terms of its effect on the businesses bottom line and in terms of wasted time. Employers must review the relevant documentation relating to accreditation prior to retaining the services of an ABET provider.

Accreditation Essential

Wednesday, December 9th, 2009

In order to ensure that the provider of Adult Basic Education and Training is providing the best possible service to learners business needs to ensure that the provider is accredited by government and the relevant training authorities. If this is not the case the learner will not be able to take advantage of the certification they obtain which will, in effect be worthless. The business will also be out of pocket to the tune of several thousands of Rands, something that no business can afford in these economically stressful times. For this reason ABET accreditation is an absolute must and it is up to the business to ensure that the provider complies.

Accreditation essential for ABET

Friday, December 4th, 2009

Adult Basic Education and training is an important part of the South African educational landscape, however as importantly the providers of the training are accredited by SETA’s and other governmental body’s in order to ensure that the levels of education and training that they provide subscribe to the standards as set in place by government. Businesses that want to enroll their employees in ABET programs should always make sure that the service provider is able to supply proof of accreditation. Without this accreditation learners cannot be assured that their certification will equip them adequately for the rigors of the job market or their new responsibilities at their current employer.

Is there a difference between SETA accredited and SET approved?

Sunday, May 31st, 2009

Although people don’t realize it the difference in wording does reflect on a difference. SETA approved indicated that the SETAs across the country approve of the specific training and provider and that the materials used are approved. A SETA approved trainer company thus will provide training on the required level. A company can thus give a certificate that is SETA approved. SETA accredited means that a trainer provider is approved and has gained full accreditation with SETA. Once accreditation is received the company becomes more than simply a SETA approved trainer and will thus have more status in the education and training industry. The course provider has also qualified to provide the course according to a specific Seta’s standards.
