Some countries have a zero rate of illiteracy and cannot begin to understand what it must be like to be unable to read and write. These people begin receiving an education at a young age and although some might not complete their schooling, they will have the ability to read and write. South Africa is one of the many countries where schooling was not available to all citizens in the past and thus has a large illiterate adult population. Improving our education system and enabling every child to receive an education is a difficult enough task to achieve without having to take into account classes for adult education. Yet government is doing their utmost to ensure that the same standard of education is offered to previously disadvantaged South Africans as to young learners.

FAQ about ABET learning programs – Timeframe

Wednesday, January 21st, 2009

One of the frequently asked questions about ABET learning programs is how long it takes to complete one of the levels of ABET learning programs. The timeframe depends on how many hours the learner spends a week attending the ABET learning programs. The more hours put in a week the shorter the timeframe for completion of the program. It takes on average 4 to 6 hours a week and can be completed in 6 to 10 months. As such learners will not have to spend years to complete the various levels of ABET learning programs and if the learners have more time available they will be able to complete the various levels quicker. That being said, at Triple-e we provide an environment that stimulates learning and one that is aimed to accommodate the adult with little time available.

Cost is always a concern and understandably so because life is expensive and people have limited budgets. The cost for ABET training levels differ according to the specific level, subjects, place, books and more. The average cost for the completion of one of the ABET training levels ranges from R1400 to R1800 a learner. This also of course includes the lectures, hands-on classes, work material and more. When considering that the timeframe for completion of one of the ABET training levels is around 6 to 10 months, it is a cost effective method for gaining skills required to compete in life and the workplace. It should be noted that many variables work in on the cost of each of the ABET training levels and as such we recommend that you contact us for a more accurate quote.

ABET classes are held at the premises most convenient to the learners and onsite at the company sponsoring the learning. Once you enrol or enrol your employees in ABET classes we will discuss the location most convenient to the learners in the program. The ABET classes are held Mondays to Sundays according to our client requirements. We consider the shifts of the learners, their transport needs, hours available, cost to company, the organized labour requirements, and the company policy. As such the time and location of the ABET classes are adapted to fit the requirements of the company, learner, and organized labour.
