Customised learner materials are an essential part of the Adult Basic Education and Training programme. Most teaching aids are printed in English and are standardised. The learner workbooks and other materials can however be customised to suit a certain business environment or the unique requirements of a learner. This will allow learners to grow in areas where they may be lacking in knowledge without wasting time on re-teaching curriculum that they have already mastered. The focus of the training materials can be modified to pinpoint the priorities in a variety of business and industry sectors. Assessment packs can also be altered to take into consideration skills and tools that individuals may have gained through experience rather than formal education institutions.
