New methods of instruction are required to break down adult numeracy resistance which has developed over years. Previous experiences play a major role in adult numeracy resistance. Negative experiences regarding competency in the subject and the lack of understanding why specific topics are taught are reasons why adult numeracy resistance exist. As such it is important to show the relevancy of what is taught immediately. The information must be applicable to day to day living and their work environments. We also need to recognize that adults have time constraints as they for instance, work 8-10 hours a day, have families to take care off, and have various other responsibilities. The subject must be taught in a manner that will consider time constraints and will proof to be interesting at all times. As such we break down adult numeracy resistance in a fun, but professional manner, empowering the learners to apply their knowledge from day one.

The problem with adult mathematics classes is that people tend to shy away from the subject because they see mathematics as independent from society with loads of measurements, units, algebra and formulas they feel they don’t understand and will never use in practice. The root of the problem lies in the way that adult mathematics classes are perceived. Nothing can be further from the truth when the Triple-e adult mathematics classes are considered. The subject is not lifeless or separated from society, but entails topics relevant to the business world as well as day to day living. The focus is on teaching the learners how to apply their knowledge to their environment instead of giving them information that seems distant from their working and living environments. As such the Triple e adult mathematics classes are fun and presented in a professional manner. The learners will receive certification for each of the NQF levels passed. We have an impressive passing figure brought about by the way that the classes are structured.

As such Triple-e provide AIDS awareness as part of life skills training and offers HIV infection prevention training as part of our more comprehensive AIDS education programs.
Any person at work that needs to provide first aid to another person should be aware of the possibility of an HIV infection. As such any cuts or bruises should be covered with waterproof plasters and the person should wear latex gloves. If contact is made with blood directly, the area should immediately be washed with hot soapy water. If there are no gloves available, the person can wear plastic bags over the hands and tie them to the wrists with elastic bands. Soiled fabrics must be boiled for at least twenty minutes and then sun dried as well as ironed.
The above are just a few of the HIV infection prevention training aspects that companies should be aware off. There are many more factors to consider and which are dealt with in our AIDS awareness life skills training.

ABET has grown from the goals of church groups, communities and schools to develop Adult Basic Education and Training programs to address the illiteracy and lack of essential numeracy as well as life skills which plague the South African economy. Many of the persons needing ABET are older women in rural areas. The women are informed and have skills to share, but their lack of literacy hinders their ability to contribute to society. Through ABET programs, the women can be taught essential skills which they can apply in community projects such as AIDS awareness programs and at charity organizations where they can help to uplift the poor citizens of the country. Companies often look at areas where they can contribute regarding social responsibility. By enrolling employees and helping to facilitate ABET programs also at rural areas, companies will be give an enormous gift back to society and their workforce. Contact us to enroll or sponsor enrollment of people in one of our ABET programs.
