June 2011 -Training is the Key to Success of Government’s Bold Jobs Plan
Lance Clack, Managing Director of Triple E Training Holdings (Pty) Ltd, says that the unveiling of the fund for the government’s new Jobs plan by Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan Tuesday, is extremely exciting and not a second too soon. Minister Gordhan said one of the fund’s focus areas would be unemployed youths, and this, says Lance Clack, is particularly vital because this age of adults is the key to our country’s success. Mr Gordhan stated yesterday, “The whole idea would be that through engagement at a grassroots level, we can excite young people in particular but other members of the communities as well to become participants in this process... to increase access to institutions (and) to funding.”
Lance Clack adds though, that unless these young adults are trained effectively, this plan will not reach the level of success that it should. He adds that Triple E Training meets similar adults every day in their ABET and FET Training Programmes. “They are not equipped with skills and experience to manage starting businesses or in the workplace, even those who have matriculated. The fact that the fund would provide grants, on a co-funding basis means that these adults need focused financial and business skills as well as the fundamentals of communication and problem-solving. Clack says that it would be totally detrimental to all involved should we send these adult out into the working world with no training or mentoring. And South Africa cannot afford to throw away the R2 billion set aside for this, in this financial year,“ says Clack.
Clack believes that when these adults are empowered through effective training and mentoring, they will become successful entrepreneurs and employees. Triple E Training Holdings (Pty) Ltd focuses on ABET and English Communication and Mathematics Skills to NQF 4, and together with other specialized training providers, he knows that they can add value to this brave and essential jobs creation plan.
