Vincent Mafeyane who started in ABET Level 1 Basic Communication and has reached ABET Level 3 in Communication and Numeracy at ABET Level 2, told us that it was very difficult for him to read and write when he started with the class. He said that he was only able to communicate in his Mother tongue, SePedi, but now he can also speak English. He could not do his own banking i.e. depositing and withdrawing money at the bank and used to ask for help every time. Now everything has changed, he is now independent. He would like to find where his strength would take him after completing all the ABET Levels and starting at FET. So far there is nothing negative about ABET as it is the same programme that has put him to where he is now. |

Elliot Vuma Dlamini started the ABET Programme at Communication Level 2 and is currently in Numeracy ABET Level 2 and Communication Level 3. He started ABET classes last year in February and had a huge problem as he could not talk in English with his manager and some of his colleagues. He had to get an interpreter each time he needed to talk. After the ABET classes, he says that his mind and eyes have been opened even wider. He can do things on his own without asking for help. He is keen to continue with ABET to the last level and try University at some point as ABET would have created a strong foundation for his development. |

Adriaan Nel started the ABET Programme at Numeracy Level 1 and Communication ABET Level 2 and is currently on Numeracy Level 2 and Communication Level 3. He said that ABET reminded him of things he learned at school e.g Maths. He is here to try his level best to complete all the ABET levels. It has also taught him how to talk with other colleagues. Numeracy helps him lot with his work as he is now able to do the calculations needed. He said that the facilitating agent is a very good man and he would like Triple E Training Holdings to train them to the highest levels possible. |
To the ABET learners of Johannesburg Water, we wish you all the best on the rest of your ABET journey.
ABET is like water as Henry David Thoreau says:
“Water is the only drink for a wise man.”
