May 2010 - Denron and Komatsu Award their ABET Learners in Spectacular Style
The ABET Learners of the Komatsu Denron Community were awarded their ABET certificates on Friday 14th May in grand style at the Komatsu Denron Community Centre near Plettenberg Bay. The centre was opened in May 2007 and welcomed its first intake of unemployed youths in the June, two months after it opened. Triple e Training Holdings (PTY) Ltd facilitates the English Communication and Mathematics Programmes for these learners. To date the centre has enrolled over 300 learners and issued 645 certificates in both these learning areas. The learners are from Kwanokuthula, Qolweni, Green Valley and Kranshoek and range in age from 16 to 56 years.

The ceremony held on Friday was attended by all the ABET Community learners who received their certificates- in fact some of them received two! Mr De Wet Schmidt, the Centre Administrator welcomed everyone and co-ordinated a fantastic ceremony for all. Mr Govender and Mr Blom from Komatsu SA and Mr D Derbyshire from Denron all congratulated the ABET learners formally. Miss Mangqwengqwe and Mrs Mavumengwana, the two facilitators involved in the ABET Programme, were supported by The Regional Unit Manager of Triple E Judy Gerardy and PA Chantal Beaton at this special occasion. The group was addressed by Ambassador Ozawa, the Ambassador of Japan in South Africa. He was pleased to state that the relationship between South Africa and Japan was 100 years old and such occasions were marvelous. The learners were ecstatic to receive a brand new Combi from him for transport to and from the Centre.

The learners wrote and sang a very moving song of gratitude to Komatsu Denron and all involved in the training. Yandi Sandlana spoke on behalf of the learners to thank the companies for their ABET opportunities. She said “You the ones that open doors for us, as we all know that education is a key to success….” The full song and speech will be posted on the website next!
Congratulations to all these learners for fantastic results and just to think it is only May! We look forward to the rest of the year.
