ABET in the Small Towns of the Eastern Cape

Small Projects Foundation, an NGO based in East London, is very involved in developing HIV/AIDS competency through the AIDS Action programme at 27 sites across the Eastern Cape. SPF has offered ABET for three years now to various small Eastern Cape communities like Libode, Engcobo, Indwe, Klipplaat and Willowmore. The learners of these Programmes are largely volunteers for offering home based care in their communities, and this ABET gives them an opportunity to further their studies.

SPF has contracted WRAP to run these Programmes for them. The communities are extremely welcoming and receive the training wholeheartedly. Some of the learners will be given the opportunity to complete a full qualification in Ancillary Health Care - an opportunity which we hope is afforded in time to all of these learners. Our facilitators have worked well in the communities, sometime battling for venues and even accommodation for themselves, but always making a plan and benefitting the learners.
