EMFUNDISWENI - ABET PROJECT - TRIPLE E TRAINING & MITTAL STEEL
Some of the most vital skills a human being can ever acquire in life is the ability to communicate and calculate effectively in all walks of life.
People with poor communication skills generally encounter difficulties when having to interact with other people. This poses a major threat to an employee's chances of being promoted. Apart from that, employees are required to attend meetings and fill in various reports on (i.e. work incidents). This could prove difficult if the employee cannot read or write.
Attending ABET (Adult Basic and Education Training) classes is vital for employees in order for them to be able to improve and develop their skills and knowledge which will lead to various job opportunities within Iscor.
ABET is for anyone and everyone who is interested in developing themselves. These skills are not only applied in the workplace but in everyday life (i.e. example, reading a newspaper, voting, banking, life insurance, learning and many more instances). By being able to communicate and calculate you are effectively empowering yourself and ensuring that your life becomes easier to manage.
Here is a success story that took place at the Emfundisweni Adult Learning Centre: Mr.Mavuso started at the centre doing English level 1 Basic as well as the numeric level 1 and he managed to complete all the levels up to level 4.
Through hard work, determination and dedication, he is now a highly productive individual. Mr. Njobeni used to battle to read and write his name; today he can fill in bank slips and draw money at an ATM, communicate with co-workers and make his own decisions in life.
